Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how TryItalianFood collects, uses, and protects personal data when visitors use this website.

Controller

TryItalianFood is operated as a personal project. For data-protection enquiries, contact: tryitalianfood@gmail.com

Analytics

TryItalianFood uses a first-party analytics system to understand how visitors use the website and to improve its content, navigation, city and dish pages, restaurant information, and functionality.

Analytics are optional. The legal basis for analytics processing is your consent. You can use the website normally without enabling analytics. You can accept or reject analytics using the cookie banner. If you have already made a choice, you can change it at any time by clicking Privacy settings in the website footer. Withdrawing consent stops further analytics collection and removes the analytics visitor and session identifiers from your browser.

Data collected with analytics consent

When you consent to analytics, the following data are collected and stored:

Visitor identifier — a randomly generated pseudonymous identifier. It does not contain your name, email address, or contact details.

Session identifier — a randomly generated identifier for your current browsing session, renewed after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Page path and context — the URL path of the page you visited, plus city, dish, and restaurant identifiers where present.

Interaction event type — for example, page view, navigation to a city or dish page, restaurant card view, link click, or scroll milestone (when you reach 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of a page).

Selected language — the display language you have chosen on the website.

Referrer — the URL of the page that linked you to this website, reduced to origin and path only. Query parameters are not stored.

UTM campaign parameters — source, medium, and campaign name from the URL, if present.

Timestamps — the date and time of each event.

Country — a two-letter country code supplied by Netlify at the edge and stored in the analytics event. We do not store the visitor's IP address in the TryItalianFood analytics database. Netlify may process network and request information as part of hosting, securing and delivering the website.

Device type and browser name — derived from the User-Agent string of your request (for example, mobile, desktop, Chrome, Safari).

Providers

We use Netlify to process analytics requests and Supabase to store analytics data. These providers may also process information as part of providing and securing their own services.

Retention

Raw analytics events containing visitor and session identifiers are retained for up to 36 months.

Aggregate statistics derived from analytics events, from which visitor and session identifiers have been removed, may be retained for longer-term historical analysis, including indefinitely where the aggregate data no longer allow a visitor to be identified or singled out.

Your rights

Users may request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or withdrawal of consent, or file a complaint with the relevant Data Protection Authority.
